Wingshooting Hunting Packages by Shaka Africa Trophy Safaris

Wingshooting Hunting in Africa

Description

South Africa is gifted with wild game bird populations of which there are more than fifty species. More than twenty of these species are available as fair game and are shot regularly. These species include the Guinea fowl, various Partridge species, Francolin species, eight species of doves and pigeons, Sand grouse, Quail, various Duck species and Egyptian and Spur wing geese.

We operate from the Free State Province in South Africa where Bloemfontein as centre is known as the "pigeon capital" of South Africa. You will be entertained with volume pigeon and dove shooting, testing the abilities of the most respected guns. Millions of pigeons and doves commute, twice daily, between the city and the ripening sunflowers of the surrounding sunflower and corn fields. It is here where guns ambush these humbling game birds under their flight paths to and from the fields. Pigeon shooting during the early season is hot barrel action, with guns firing in excess of a thousand rounds of ammunition per day!

For some really hot barrel shooting, nothing can beat the immense flocks of pigeons and doves shot over sunflower or cornfields under The Big Sky of Africa.

Each customer has his or her own expectations, so we make a point to find out what they would like before they arrive. That way the client gets to shoot what they came for, making for a special and unforgettable stay. Wing shooting safaris are tailored to suit each group’s specific requirements and can include photographic/sightseeing, fishing and plains game hunting. Due to the different wing shooting options and species, emphasis is placed on variety rather than quantity. However, early season hunts often see some really big bags. We strongly recommend the use of 12 Gauge shotguns, as ammunition is readily available. Although we suggest a minimum of four hunters to plan an effective safari, we do cater for smaller, more exclusive groups.

Pigeons may be shot throughout the year, but the best time is from late February to August. From February to April you can combine volume pigeon shooting with exciting fishing for indigenous yellow fish, barber, mudfish and carp.

Come and experience the warm hospitality of mystical land of unsurpassed natural beauty with its wide variety of wildlife.
